Our Story

A-1 Community Housing Services, founded in 2016 by Joanne Baker and Nancy Rivera, is a HUD Approved Housing Counseling Agency based in Hayward, California. With over 25 years of combined experience in the housing and nonprofit sectors, the founders believe that the dream of homeownership and financial stability should be accessible to everyone. Since becoming a HUD Approved Housing Agency in 2018, A-1 CHS has dedicated itself to providing quality housing education and counseling services, reaching one household at a time.

Our Impact

Since launching its housing program, A-1 Community Housing Services has educated and assisted over 5,771 households, with 891 families achieving homeownership and 2,893 improving their financial capacity through counseling.
