Our Story

Met Council is America’s largest Jewish non-profit organization dedicated to fighting poverty. Established in 1972, it responds to the growing number of impoverished Jews in New York City.

Impact

Serving over 325,000 clients annually, Met Council provides essential services that help individuals and families move from crisis to self-sufficiency. With the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world, it operates 101 food pantries and 20 affordable housing sites across the city.
