Our Story

Breaking Ground began with a simple idea: providing affordable housing paired with onsite supports can help people escape and avoid homelessness. The first project, the historic Times Square Hotel, became the largest supportive residence in the country and a model for sustainable supportive housing worldwide.

Impact

Each year, hundreds of men and women overcome homelessness and transform their lives with the help of Breaking Ground. Thousands of residents find stability, enrichment, and a sense of community in our buildings.
