Our Story
In 1991, the First United Methodist Church of Los Angeles transformed a large property into a beacon of hope for the downtown community. Recognizing the decline in their neighborhood, church leaders envisioned a solution that would provide essential resources and support. Thus, 1010 Development Corporation was born, dedicated to developing affordable housing solutions. The first projects, Villa Flores and Hope Village, were completed in 1998 and 2001, respectively, serving low-income families and senior citizens. The success of these initiatives paved the way for further developments, including Casa Shalom and James Wood Apartments, and the recent Casa Carmen, which provides housing for seniors experiencing chronic homelessness.
