Our Story
In 2016, Rey Raigoza took a step back to give back to the sport that shaped his life by coaching Little League at Piotrowski Park. What began as a simple coaching opportunity quickly transformed into a mission to empower youth in disinvested neighborhoods. During a tournament, Rey's team, the only Latino team present, faced economic barriers that left them without matching uniforms or adequate equipment. Yet, they persevered, reaching the semi-finals and proving that determination knows no bounds.
This experience ignited a powerful vision: no young person should have to sacrifice their passion for sports due to financial constraints. By 2022, Urban Warriors officially became a nonprofit organization, expanding its reach to serve over 300 young people through five dynamic programs. The mission remains clear: to provide equal access to extracurricular activities that foster the development of the Perfect Athlete, both on and off the field.
