Our Story
United Way of East Central Alabama has a rich history that began in the 1920s with local Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs uniting to support children in poverty. This collaboration led to the establishment of Calhoun County’s first Community Chest. Over the decades, the organization evolved, officially incorporating in 1954 as United Way of Calhoun County. In 1996, the organization expanded its reach to Cleburne and Randolph counties, adopting its current name. Today, it stands as the largest fundraising initiative in the region, generating over $1 million annually to support 28 Community Partners and 4 key initiatives.
