Our Story
The Arc of Laramie County was established in 1954 by dedicated parents advocating for their children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Initially, these children faced barriers to public education and were often institutionalized. The organization’s mission led to the creation of The Opportunity School in 1959, providing essential educational opportunities. Over the years, The Arc has expanded its services to include advocacy, community integration, and recreational activities, ensuring individuals with disabilities can live independently and engage fully in their communities.
