About Pantry 279

Founded by a group of ten dedicated Girl Scouts from Troop 69-279, Pantry 279 was established as a Silver Award Project to combat food insecurity in Southern Indiana. Opening its doors on November 2, 2015, the pantry quickly exceeded expectations, serving over 600 individuals in its first month alone. As the need for food assistance grew, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, Pantry 279 adapted and expanded its services to support over 1,800 families each month, totaling more than 9,000 individuals.
