Our Story

Founded in 1871 by C. R. Mossman, Friendship House began as a response to the urgent needs of a sick woman found on the streets of Scranton. With the support of community leaders, the Home for the Friendless was established, evolving into Friendship House. This organization has a rich history of adapting its services to provide care and support to women and children in need.
