High-Speed Internet Access

Our Story

CIRBN was established through the ARRA BTOP initiative, initiated by discussions among local leaders in 2004. This collaborative effort involved Illinois State University, K–12 schools, and various local organizations to tackle connectivity challenges. With the support of multiple partners, CIRBN secured funding through the BTOP program, leading to the creation of a robust fiber-optic network that serves numerous community institutions.

Our Impact

Since its inception, CIRBN has constructed over 100 miles of fiber optic cable across six counties and 20 communities in Central Illinois. The network has partnered with more than 100 organizations, including healthcare facilities, libraries, and educational institutions, enhancing connectivity for all.
