Our Story

The Blackwater River Foundation, Inc. was established in 2002 to address the unmet needs of preserving environmental and cultural resources within the Blackwater River watershed in Northwest Florida and Southern Alabama. The Foundation has a rich history of acquiring and restoring properties, such as the historic T.W. Jones House, while developing programs focused on stewardship, education, and urban forestry.

Our Impact

Through various initiatives, the Foundation has successfully restored the T.W. Jones House for educational purposes, developed a management plan for the Bagdad Mill Site Park, and established the Blackwater Watershed Stewardship Program, promoting environmental and cultural preservation.
