Our Story

Founded in 1984, Authors in April is a unique nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting literacy in the greater Rochester community. By inviting renowned authors and illustrators to local schools, this program inspires children to read and fosters a lifelong love of literature.

Each year, over 10,000 students benefit from the engaging programs offered by Authors in April. The organization was honored with the 2019 Library of Congress State Literacy Award for its significant contributions to literacy and reading.
